Sandyford and the G3 Clinic

Sandyford is an NHS service which offers specialist Sexual and Reproductive health care in a variety of locations across Greater Glasgow and Clyde health board.

Services include:
  • Testing for sexually transmitted infections (STIs)
  • Testing for blood borne viruses (BBVs)
  • Urgent appointments for anyone experiencing symptoms suggestive of an STI or BBV
  • Contraception provision and condoms
  • Emergency contraception
  • PrEP and PEPSE
  • Support following rape or sexual assault
  • Abortion care

Many general appointments as well as a wealth of information relating to sexual and reproductive health and wellbeing can be found online at www.sandyford.scot.

G3 Clinic
In addition to these services, Sandyford offers specialist care for anyone involved in selling or exchanging sex. Our G3 clinics runs on a Wednesday afternoon at Sandyford Central. This clinic offers some additional services such as a longer appointment time and vaccination as well as ongoing support to make regular appointments for testing. Specialist G3 nurses can be contacted directly for prompt advice.

Following an initial assessment appointment, patients may then be supported to access our mainstream appointments. These offer regular STI and BBV testing for those who don’t require any other services. We recommend testing every 3 months for anyone having regular unprotected sex (oral, vaginal and/or anal sex without a condom) and every 6-12 months for those having regular protected sex (oral, vaginal and/or anal sex with consistent condom use).

Urgent appointments remain available in the meantime and these can be booked directly with the G3 nurse following a telephone assessment.

The clinic is free and is open to anyone living in the Greater Glasgow and Clyde health board area. For anyone living out with this geographical area, please contact your local sexual health service.
