Welcome to CSE Aware

A place for workers in Scotland to find information about the needs of women who sell or exchange sex, and resources to improve their response to them.

Commercial sexual exploitation

Commercial sexual exploitation (CSE) primarily affects women and it can involve activities such as street prostitution, escorting, stripping, lap dancing, escorting, pornography, webcamming, selling images online, and trafficking, among others.

We use the term “selling and exchanging sex” after consulting with women who have been involved or have moved on from this experience.
Women who sell or exchange sex have a diversity of needs and they often engage with multiple services such as housing, violence against women, mental health, sexual health, money advice, etc. CSE Aware will cover the experiences of women in these areas.

This website is a work in progress. Contact us if you’d like to contribute your experiences around practice.
